August 2024

Dear Prayer Partners,

Mr. Carroll shared a quote that had meant a lot to him in his early Christian life: “The Christian life is an experience of multiplied new beginnings.” Here at EI, we have come to a new beginning. Another school year starts on August 26. Our theme for the year centers on a heart that is completely His. While the goal of discipleship is a heart that is completely His, it must also be the ultimate goal of all our teaching.

Pray for a good beginning as we start classes. The year’s progress depends greatly on getting off to a good start. Please pray for some particulars. First, pray for the Lord to keep each person who has committed to come from hindrances. Pray particularly for international students. Several are still waiting for appointments to get visas. Pray that these will not be further delayed and that the Lord will give them favor when interviewed. Then second, we would ask for you to pray for all those who teach. Pray that we will be kept physically, spiritually, and emotionally to present Christ in an accurate way. Our message will be understood in terms of what is seen in our daily lives. Pray that we will be Christlike examples of truth.

Finally, and humorously, pray that everything works as we begin. In a facility as old as ours, it seems there is always something that does not want to perform. Please pray that there will not be problems to distract from our new beginning.

Please continue to pray for EI ministries that reach beyond the students. Last spring, we initiated a weekly podcast. While our main goal is to make EI known to a wider group of people, our ultimate goal is to attract young people who will come to study. Pray that the Lord will prosper our podcast ministry. Pray also for the Monday night meetings which will begin on September 30. This year, we will be considering the Lord’s instructions to his disciples in John 13-17.

As always, it is important to finish these letters with thanksgiving to you, our prayer partners. We are deeply grateful for your intercession. Prayer is one of the more difficult ministries because it is so hidden, making the impact of prayer often unseen. I wonder how many times students have been met through the answered prayers of people they did not know. Thank you for praying. May the Lord meet you, giving you joy and peace in your daily “new beginnings” with Him.

In Our Lord,

Art Nuernberg
